Privacy Policy
Okashare ("we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to oka-share.com and the Okashare service (the "Service").
By using the Service you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Who we are
Okashare is a browser-based video editing platform that lets creators edit short-form videos and publish them directly to connected social platforms such as TikTok. We are an independent service operated by Okashare. You can contact us at privacy@oka-share.com.
2. Information we collect
We collect only the information we need to provide the Service.
2.1 Information you provide directly
- Account information. When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and password (stored as a hashed value).
- Profile information. Optional profile data such as display name, avatar, and timezone.
- Content. Videos, audio, captions, thumbnails, and other media you upload, edit, or generate using the Service.
- Communications. Messages you send us through support channels.
2.2 Information from connected platforms
When you connect a third-party platform account (for example, your TikTok account) to Okashare, we receive:
- An OAuth access token and refresh token issued by that platform, which we store encrypted at rest.
- Your basic public profile information from that platform (such as your username, display name, avatar, and unique user identifier).
- Performance metrics for the posts you publish through Okashare (such as views, likes, comments, shares, and watch time).
We only request the minimum scopes required to provide the publishing and analytics features you use.
2.3 Information collected automatically
- Usage data. Pages viewed, features used, timestamps, and similar diagnostic data.
- Device and connection data. IP address, browser type, operating system, device identifiers, and approximate location (derived from IP).
- Cookies and similar technologies. We use a small number of cookies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and measure aggregate usage. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
We do not use third-party advertising cookies. We do not sell personal information.
3. How we use information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the Service, including video editing, publishing, and analytics features.
- Authenticate you and protect your account.
- Publish content to platforms you have connected, only when you take an explicit publishing action.
- Retrieve analytics for posts you publish through Okashare so we can display performance metrics to you.
- Communicate with you about the Service, including transactional messages, security alerts, and product updates.
- Detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents.
- Comply with legal obligations.
We do not use your content to train generative AI models, and we do not share your content with third parties for advertising.
4. How we share information
We share information only as described below.
- With third-party platforms you connect. When you publish content through Okashare, we transmit the content and necessary metadata to the platform (for example, TikTok) on your behalf. The platform's own privacy policy then applies to that data.
- With service providers. We use trusted vendors to host infrastructure (cloud hosting, database, storage), deliver email, process payments (if applicable), and monitor reliability. These providers are bound by contract to use information only to provide their services to us.
- For legal reasons. We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, court order, or other legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Okashare, our users, or others.
- In a business transfer. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to standard confidentiality protections.
We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
5. How we store and protect information
- We host data with reputable cloud providers in the United States and other regions as needed to deliver the Service.
- OAuth tokens and other sensitive credentials are encrypted at rest using server-side keys.
- We restrict employee and contractor access to personal data on a need-to-know basis.
- We monitor systems for security incidents and maintain procedures for responding to them.
No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your information using industry-standard practices.
6. How long we keep information
- Account and profile data. Retained for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterward to comply with legal obligations and resolve disputes.
- Content. Retained for as long as you keep it in your account. You can delete projects and exports at any time. Deleted content is removed from active systems and purged from backups on a routine schedule.
- Connected-platform tokens. Retained for as long as the connection is active. When you disconnect a platform or delete your account, we revoke and delete the stored tokens.
- Analytics snapshots. Retained while your account is active so you can review historical performance.
- Logs. Diagnostic and security logs are retained for a limited period sufficient to operate and protect the Service.
7. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:
- Access. Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Correction. Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Deletion. Ask us to delete your personal information.
- Portability. Receive your personal information in a portable format.
- Objection or restriction. Object to certain processing or ask us to restrict it.
- Withdraw consent. Withdraw consent where we rely on it.
- Disconnect a platform. Disconnect any connected social platform at any time from your account settings. This revokes our access and deletes the stored tokens.
To exercise these rights, contact privacy@oka-share.com. We will respond within the time required by applicable law.
8. Children
Okashare is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country to use online services without parental consent). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
9. International users
We are based in the United States and process information in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. If you use the Service from outside the United States, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in countries that have different data-protection laws than your country.
For users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, we rely on appropriate transfer mechanisms (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) where required.
10. Third-party platforms
When you connect a third-party platform such as TikTok, your use of that platform is governed by the platform's own terms and privacy policy. We encourage you to review them:
- TikTok Privacy Policy: https://www.tiktok.com/legal/privacy-policy
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, provide additional notice (such as an in-app banner or email). Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the revised policy.
